SUMMARY:Chamber Advocacy Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our next Advocacy Committee Meeting is on October 7\, 8:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. via Zoom. We will focus on transportation and specifically review some of the great work and recent studies that have been done by the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and Centralina Regional Council. We will also do a legislative update.\n\n \n\nThe Charlotte Regional Business Alliance through its Committee for a Better 2050 commissioned the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) to examine the economic impacts of mobility investments in Mecklenburg County and the benefits to the Charlotte region. This report calculates the return on investment for various transportation modes and discusses the regional impact of transportation investments in Mecklenburg. The report also highlights the lost benefits resulting from inaction. Daniel Findley\, Senior Research Associate with ITRE will present his findings.\n\n \n\nThe Centralina Regional Council recently released the results of its 18-month CONNECT Beyond study. CONNECT Beyond is the first regional effort to create a single\, coordinated transit system that includes multiple transit modes. This mobility initiative is about envisioning how individuals will move from place to place across arbitrary boundaries to get to work\, school\, medical appointments and other daily services by public transportation or transit. Geraldine Garner\, Executive Director of Centralina will present the CONNECT Beyond report.
