About Us
NC Children's is a first-of-its-kind partnership between UNC Health and Duke Health — building the Carolinas’ only freestanding children's hospital, dedicated exclusively to kids.
North Carolina is the largest state without a freestanding children's hospital. That means some families facing the most complex pediatric diagnoses have no choice but to leave the state for care. There is also a behavioral health crisis impacting children that is quickly becoming one of the greatest threats to the well-being of the children of our state.
NC Children's changes that — for every child, in all 100 counties.
When NC Children’s opens, the pediatric programs from both UNC Health and Duke Health will move to the new campus.
Faculty members from both Schools of Medicine will care for the patients at NC Children’s, conduct translational research, and teach students, residents and fellows to provide expert care to children.
